General concept

SeaCat's purpose is to collect high-resolution data of the seafloor and marine environment in addition to or instead of ship-mounted sensors. For some operations, no support ship will be needed at all. SeaCat makes it possible to gather data from sea areas not accessible to human divers due to the depth or area of operation. For typical operations, the vehicle is equipped with a sidescan sonar to map the seabed up to a swath width of 150 m to both sides of the vehicle. Furthermore, to obtain a 3D map of the bathymetry, a SwapHead configuration with a specific SurveyHead featuring a multi-beam echo sounder (R2Sonic 2022) can be installed.
